I Look for You in Everything

abaca fiber over soft glass

50 x 92 x 61 cm

Pillars of solid, hot assembled clear glass are wrapped in strips of translucent abaca (Musa textilis) fiber and secured with plant glue. Soft but sturdy plant fibers harden and strengthen with the passage of time to form a colorful protective shell around the cooled glass forms. Each glass tower is comprised of multiple, experimental gestures that were individually melted together, piece by piece. These raw organic forms and the therapeutic process of carefully wrapping each shape in soft paper is meant to capture and embody the intense, unexpected twists and turns of the grieving process.
