Comparison

Valise vs Viewroom: which one for which artist?

For a studio where several people work in the same archive, with roles and price visibility set per member: Valise is built for that.

For an artist who shares private selections and wants to pick each field, set an expiry and revoke the link: Valise's private links go further than ours.

For an artist who needs the documents the art world asks for, a catalogue, a PDF portfolio, a press kit and a certificate of authenticity, in English or French, with no work cap on a single plan: Viewroom.

For an agent or manager following several artists: Viewroom opens one space per artist from a single account.

How we compared

Valise's public pages (home, pricing, changelog) surveyed on October 18, 2026, against Viewroom as it runs in production that day.

What we looked at

  • public price at equal work capacity
  • what a recipient sees when you share, and for how long
  • working alone or as a team
  • how an existing inventory comes over
  • interface language and the documents produced

Surveyed on . Valise prices in US dollars, yearly billing as displayed by default on their pricing page (a monthly toggle exists). Viewroom's prices are shown in euros and US dollars, from our live plan.

What Valise does better — a free plan up to 50 works, and a Pro plan up to 1,000 works for an archive that stays under that line

What Viewroom does better — one subscription with no work cap: an archive that passes 1,000 works keeps the same plan, where Valise moves to Studio

Sharing a selection

A free plan

Valise is free up to 50 works, with no card. Viewroom has no free plan: a 14-day trial, then a subscription.

Finer private links

On a shared collection, Valise lets you pick which details appear, show every image of a work, set an expiry and revoke the link at any time. Viewroom sets no expiry and no field selection link by link.

valise.works — Surveyed on

A team in the same archive

Several people work in one archive as owner, editor or viewer, and a switch hides prices from a given member. Viewroom does not offer several people working in one space, with roles.

The business side of the archive

Sales with payment status and net to artist, consignments with automatic reminders on paid plans, expenses exported as reports, documents attached to any record and searchable. Viewroom tracks status, price, location and sales per edition copy, not that whole ledger.

Imports from other tools

A spreadsheet template, imports from ArtLogic, Art Record and Artwork Archive exports, a scan that turns a sales receipt or a CV into records, and a concierge migration on paid plans. Viewroom starts from a PDF catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Valise cost?

Valise is free up to 50 works. Pro costs US$100 a year for up to 1,000 works, and Studio US$250 a year for unlimited works (survey of October 18, 2026, yearly billing).

Which Valise plan should be compared with Viewroom?

At equal capacity, Studio: it is the Valise plan with no work cap, like Viewroom's single plan. Studio also includes 20 members, which Viewroom does not offer. If your archive stays under 1,000 works and you work alone, Pro is the fair point of comparison.

Can I use Viewroom in English and in French?

Yes. The whole interface exists in English and in French, and the certificate of authenticity is generated in either language.

How do I move from Valise to Viewroom?

Valise lets you export your whole archive at any time. On Viewroom, you start from a PDF catalogue, from which your works are created at sign-up; images then come in by batches of twenty and you complete each record.

What is Viewroom?

Viewroom — catalogue software for artists: artwork inventory, PDF portfolio, press kit and public portal. A 14-day trial, every feature, no card required.

Try Viewroom on your own catalogue

14 days, every feature, no card required.

Your PDF catalogue is the starting point.

If several people work in your archive, or if you track every payment and consignment, Valise is probably the right tool, and its private links are finer than ours. Viewroom is for the artist who has to send the documents: a catalogue, a portfolio, a press kit, a certificate, in English or French.
